Design Lead — Fireaway Pizza

The Role
Fireaway is entering its next phase of growth and is elevating its design capability accordingly.
We are recruiting a Design Lead — a senior, hands-on creative with strong artistic and creative capability, a deep understanding of branding, and the ability to translate key messages into high-quality, effective visual design .
This role carries end-to-end responsibility for creating and leading high-quality visual output, particularly across our website and app, ensuring designs are clean, clear, intuitive and commercially effective, supporting easy ordering while consistently reinforcing Fireaway’s brand identity.
This is not a production-only role.
This is a brand leadership role with clear ownership and accountability.
What You’ll Be Accountable For
Brand & Creative Leadership
* Build, define and own Fireaway’s Brand World / Design Guidelines, including typography, colour systems, layouts, templates, and usage rules.
* Ensure all design output is artistically strong, visually compelling, and aligned to brand strategy .
* Clearly highlight key messages through design, ensuring clarity, hierarchy and impact across all touchpoints.
* Act as the final authority on brand execution across the business.
Website, App & Digital Experience
* Lead the creation of high-quality visuals for the website and app, ensuring:
* clean, uncluttered design
* clarity of information
* intuitive user journeys
* strong reinforcement of Fireaway brand elements
* Design with ease of ordering and customer experience at the forefront, balancing creativity with usability.
Design Delivery (End-to-End)
* Lead design across:
* Website, app, digital screens and social media
* Print (menus, packaging, POS, signage)
* National campaigns and brand initiatives
* Translate commercial and marketing briefs into clear, engaging and on-brand creative .
* Deliver consistently at pace in a scale-up environment, with minimal rework.
Commercial & Operational Impact
* Design with a clear understanding of how visuals influence customer behaviour, ordering decisions and brand perception .
* Reduce inefficiency, rework and dependency on senior stakeholders by setting clear standards.
* Balance creativity with commercial realism — this is not a conceptual studio role.
Team & Partner Leadership
* Lead and direct external agencies, printers and freelancers.
* Shape the future design structure, including potential junior or placement support roles.
* Provide creative leadership without becoming a bottleneck.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience operating at Design Lead / Senior Design Manager level .
* Strong artistic and creative skills, with the ability to develop visually distinctive yet commercially effective design.
* Solid understanding of branding principles, message hierarchy and visual communication.
* Demonstrable experience creating high-quality digital design, particularly for websites and apps.
* Experience building or redefining brand guidelines or design systems.
* Strong capability across digital and print in a consumer-facing business.
* Comfortable working at speed, making decisions, and taking accountability.
* Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (execution remains essential).
