Job Summary: To lead the staff’s nursing activities within the philosophy, standards and goals of UAB Callahan Eye Hospital. To serve as clinician, educator, consultant and manager for patient care and team members. To maintain required competencies to perform the nurse’s role in a safe and legal manner. May be responsible for duties relative to facilitating schedules, quality outcomes and budgeting. May assist nurse leaders with various human resources responsibilities. Key Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Acts as patient advocate, identifying and anticipating actual and potential needs, intervening as needed. 2. Schedules employees in Kronos, payroll, time and attendance. 3. Coordinate with surgeon schedulers, CEH scheduling and UAB PACT teams as necessary to facilitate patient flow. 4. Demonstrates sound judgement in identifying and providing instruction. 5. Acts as a consultant for sharing knowledge, expertise and information. 6. Acts as a team leader for his/her team in the delivery of patient care. 7. Assists nurse leaders and attends educational programs related to departmental employees. 8. Performs other duties as assigned. Associate's degree in Nursing and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Licenses / Certifications / Registrations\: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required. If working in OR, PreOp or PACU, certification is preferred especially with longevity in position based on work area. Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) by the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI) for OR. If working in PreOp, certification as a Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) by the American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification (ABPANC), Inc. If working in PACU, certification as a Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) by the American Board of Perianesthesia Nursing Certification (ABPANC), Inc.
