Volunteer at the Children’s Hospital with Radio Lollipop
Radio Lollipop believes in the healing power of play – providing smiles and laughter to children at a time when they need it most.
Many patients have recurring hospital stays, with some spending much of their short lives in hospital, especially those who are terminally ill. Radio Lollipop offers young patients a voice and a choice during their stay. While they can't refuse treatment, they can request their favorite songs, win prizes, and hear their voices on the radio. These activities create a sense of normality in an otherwise strange and often scary environment.
Each Radio Lollipop Volunteer must be aged 18 or older and able to commit to 2 hours per week of interactive play with children, utilizing a variety of fun and engaging activities developed over the years.
A broadcast radio studio is part of our activity toolkit, available at most hospitals where Radio Lollipop operates. It offers a unique, child-oriented program of interactive competitions, music, stories, and games.
