Overview
Looking for a role where you can develop your clinical skills, feel supported by a friendly team, and enjoy a great work/life balance? Whether you’re early in your career or a more experienced vet, Axe Valley Vets could be the perfect fit.
Why Choose Us?
We’re a well-established, multi-branch practice in Somerset with a diverse and supportive team of 10 vets, ranging from recent graduates to certificate holders in medicine and surgery. We work collaboratively, share cases, and support one another in our development.
* Hub and spoke model with a main site and a few branches (some consult only)
* Modern facilities and regular visits from a soft tissue surgeon and ophthalmologist
* Experienced and dedicated nursing, ANA, and reception teams
* Proud to support the IVC New Graduate Scheme and a partner practice for Surrey University
* Strong focus on mentoring, development, and certificate support
* Several of our vets have been with us since graduation
Based in beautiful Somerset, we’re surrounded by countryside with easy access to Bristol and Bath. Whether you prefer outdoor adventures or cultural city life, you’ll find it here. Dog lover? Your canine companion is welcome too! Staff kennelling is available on site, and lunchtime dog walks are part of our routine.
Work/Life Balance
We offer flexible working arrangements to suit a variety of lifestyles. Our standard full-time schedule consists of 40 hours worked over 4 days, with no overnight on-call duties. Weekend shifts are limited to a 1-in-9 rota, covering day shifts only, as all out-of-hours care is managed externally. We also welcome part-time applications and are happy to discuss alternative working patterns to support work-life balance.
