JOB TITLE: Children Residential Support Worker

RESPONSIBLE TO: Registered Manager

LOCATION: Swanley, BR8

SALARY: £13-£14 per hour £45 sleep-in rate

We are looking for compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Support Workers to join our team at CEON Haven. Providing a nurturing and supportive home that delivers a safe and stable environment for young people.

Our aim is to nurture young people aged 8 to 17 who present with challenging behaviours, by offering a secure and stable placement where they feel valued, respected, and safe. We are committed to creating a trauma-informed, therapeutic environment that helps young people build resilience and self-confidence, equipping them with the tools to make positive life choices and reach their potential. At CEON Haven, we believe residential care is not a last resort, but a meaningful and valuable option for young people who have experienced adversity and require stability, care, and understanding.

Main Purpose of the Job:

* Provide daily care and emotional support to children and young people.
* Maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured home environment.
* Promote positive behaviour and independence through role modelling.
* Support education, activities, and personal development.
* Build trusting relationships to help children develop resilience.
* Work with colleagues and professionals to ensure consistent care.
* Carry out light household tasks to keep the home safe and welcoming.

What We're Looking For:

* Experience in residential childcare, especially supporting children with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
* A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond with empathy and understanding.
* Effective communication, teamwork, and observation skills.
* High levels of emotional resilience and adaptability.
* NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People, or willingness to work towards this qualification.
* Proficient in communication, record-keeping, and collaborative working.
* Basic IT competence

Key Duties & Responsibilities

* Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
* Provide day-to-day practical and emotional support, ensuring individual needs are met.
* Build positive and trusting relationships with children, always showing empathy and respect.
* Act as a role model by demonstrating appropriate behaviour, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Support children with their education, personal development, and extracurricular activities.
* Assist in developing and following individual care plans, adapting support as needs change.
* Manage and respond calmly to challenging behaviour, applying positive behaviour management strategies.
* Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, incident reports, and handover notes.
* Support with household tasks to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals to deliver consistent, child-centred care.
* Attend meetings, reviews, and training sessions as required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Criteria

Qualifications and Training

* A good level of literacy
* Level 3 Diploma in Children & Young People Workforce, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent (can be working towards).
* Willingness to complete all mandatory training

Experience

* Minimum 1 year of experience supporting children or young people in a residential, educational, or care setting.
* Experience working with children who present emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) needs.
* Experience in following behaviour support plans and safeguarding procedures.
