Contract: Permanent, Full-time, 12-hour shift pattern (24/7 coverage)**
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Security Officer at our site in Duxford, Cambridge, UK. The site is a key operational facility comprising of a manufacturing and packaging plant, warehousing and support services. As part of a 24/7/365 security team, you will play a vital role in maintaining site safety, managing emergency responses and ensuring a secure environment for all personnel and visitors to all companies on the Duxford site.
Key Accountabilities Include
* Maintain overall site security awareness during each 12-hour shift.
* Monitor and manage access control for staff, visitors, and contractors.
* Provide a friendly and professional front of house service, supporting induction and visitor management processes, including pass issuance and logbook maintenance.
* Conduct perimeter patrols, CCTV monitoring, and spot checks in line with site procedures.
* Lead and coordinate emergency response procedures, including incident control, alarm response, and liaison with emergency services as required.
* Operate and manage site security systems including CCTV, access control, pager and radio systems.
* Assist in the coordination of emergency drills and contribute to the development of site security procedures.
* Provide excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
* Support shift rota coordination and ensure continuous coverage when required.
Knowledge & Experience Required
* Honesty, integrity and the ability to maintain site confidentiality.
* Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively, positively and courteously with all visitors and staff.
* Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with security systems such as CCTV, access control platforms, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
* Manned Guarding Sector Licence (SIA). Non-licence holders may be considered but must undertake and successfully complete training in order to apply for an SIA security licence.
* Previous experience in the security industry, police, or emergency services is highly desirable, with proven ability to manage incidents and make decisions under pressure.
* Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
* The ability to work on own initiative, accept responsibility and make decisions when required.
* Ability to undertake site patrol duties.
* A First Aid qualification is desirable, although training will be provided.
* Understanding of commercial operations and the role of security within a multi-business site.
* A basic knowledge of the relationship of Security Officers and the law is desirable.
