Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research Delivery Team at Great Western Hospital as a Research Delivery Lead. The role will work alongside other Research Delivery Leads to manage the research delivery staff within the Research & Innovation Department. The post holder will work on research trials across all specialties, ensuring a balance between research delivery and line management responsibilities. They will play a key role in ensuring robust feasibility to support NIHR targets for trial delivery and will support performance management of the research portfolio to maximise patient participation. This involves working closely with Principal Investigators, Research Governance staff, and support services to promote collaborative research delivery.
The post holder will be responsible for the day‑to‑day line management of the clinical delivery team, coordinate and contribute to recruitment to clinical trials, ensure full feasibility assessment for all trials, and develop strategies to overcome recruitment barriers. They will provide support, encouragement, and motivation to research professionals, plan and organise daily study tasks, and work with the Research Manager and Head of Service to support performance against NIHR and Trust targets for patient recruitment. The post holder will work clinically as a research resource, balancing line management responsibilities and research, and will ensure that research is conducted within ICH‑GCP and the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Masters degree (or equivalent degree level with comparable knowledge and skills)
* Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Certificate
* Demonstrable knowledge of the Research Governance Framework (evidenced through practice/experience)
* In‑depth knowledge of Clinical Trials and Research Governance
* Experience of Line Managing a Team or Managerial Experience
* Experience of Autonomous Practice
* Leadership skills – evidence of ability to support and lead junior staff
* Excellent interpersonal communication, including written and verbal
* Ability to plan and organise own workload and that of others

* Excellent IT skills in all Microsoft Office Applications
