An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Radiology Departmentat The George Elliot Hospital for an experienced Sonographer to join theirdynamic and welcoming team.

You will beable to make informed decisions within your own area and scope of professionalpractice and will support the other midwifery sonographers in the provision ofa professional ultrasound service.
Main duties of the job
Thesonographer provides a highly specialist clinical technical service usingultrasound scans to carry out diagnosis. The sonographer analyses complex dataand is expected to obtain maximum possible diagnostic information taking intoaccount any anatomical or pathological limitations.
Thesonographer must possess a high level of specialist knowledge over a wide rangeof ultrasound procedures and/or the highest level in-depth expertise in aparticular area of ultrasound comparable to senior clinicians.
Thesonographer is required to have the appropriate technical skill to operate theultrasound machinery safely and effectively.
Thesonographer must carry out and report on MSK, abdominal and gynaecological ultrasound scans. These are usuallyunsupervised, but consultation with peers, referring consultants and consultantradiologists may be necessary in some difficult cases. These scans may arisefrom in-patients, out-patients, A&E or GP referrals.
Thesonographer is expected to scan in a variety of settings and locations: scansare performed in the main and satellite departments, also in other specialistdepartments including one-stop clinics Early Pregnancy Assessmentclinic.

Qualifications
Essential
1. DCR (R)/BSc/DMU/PGD or MSC in Medical Ultrasound
2. Registration with Health Professions Council. (HPC) Radiographer
3. CASE accredited MSK Ultrasound qualification
Experience
Essential
4. Advanced technical knowledge related to the efficient use, safety and maintenance of ultrasound equipment.
5. Ability to use the Imaging IT systems.
6. Attend manual handling, basic life support and fire safely lectures
7. Well developed specialist knowledge which is underpinned by theoretical knowledge and practical experience
8. Ability to impart clinical skills to trainee sonographers and other students on secondment.
9. Able to use initiative when undertaking emergency duties, on-call etc
