P&B (Foods) Ltd, home of the Heera brand, is one of the UK and Europe's leading importers, manufacturers, and distributors of ethnic foods. As part of our continued growth, we are currently working towards achieving BRCGS certification and are seeking a motivated Quality Control Assistant to join our Technical/QA team.
This is an exciting opportunity to be directly involved in supporting the business through BRC implementation, compliance projects, and technical administration. You'll play a key role in maintaining food safety, quality, and legal standards while helping us embed a strong food safety culture.
Key Responsibilities (Not Limited To)
* Support the QA Manager and Technical Team with the implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety & Quality Management System (FSQMS).
* Assist in BRCGS audit preparations, ensuring documentation, records, and procedures are up to date and audit-ready.
* Help conduct internal audits (e.g. GMP, CCP, glass and plastics, hygiene, fabrication) and follow up on corrective actions.
* Support HACCP documentation and updates, liaising with the HACCP team as required.
* Assist with the supplier approval and monitoring system, including chasing specifications, allergen declarations, and certificates.
* Record and investigate customer complaints, supporting root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.
* Update and maintain the training matrix, ensuring training records are accurate and complete.
* Support traceability, mass balance, and mock recall exercises.
* Accurately input, file, and scan quality-related documentation (paper and electronic).
* Provide general administrative support to the Technical and QA teams.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a detail-driven, proactive team player with a genuine interest in food safety and quality. Ideally, you will bring:
* Experience within a QA, Technical, or Food Safety role in a food manufacturing or distribution environment.
* Exposure to BRCGS audits (either as a participant or in a supporting role) – highly desirable.
* Strong IT and administration skills – proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to business needs.
* A commitment to accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Desirable but not essential:
* HACCP knowledge or HACCP Team experience.
* Experience with complaint investigations, supplier management, or product testing.
* Previous involvement in audit preparation (e.g. BRCGS, ISO, customer, or halal audits).
