Overview
Trustee with interest in safeguarding, Health & Safety or Law to join board of multi academy trust. The role involves supporting and shaping the board's work and strategic direction to help every child be the best they can be.
We have an established board and ongoing projects focusing on inclusion and equality, with a focus on Educational and Operational Excellence. Trustees are expected to contribute their experience while engaging with local advisory boards to understand each academy when discussing and challenging finance, risk, safeguarding, teaching and learning, and beyond-the-classroom services.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic direction and hold senior leaders to account using your professional expertise in Safeguarding, Health & Safety or Law.
* Engage with local advisory boards to maintain a strong understanding of each academy as part of governance.
* Support the trust in its innovative approach and contribute to ongoing cycles of improvement and pursuit of Educational and Operational Excellence.
* Attend governance meetings (in person at our central office in Grange Park) and participate in additional opportunities throughout the academic year as capacity allows.
* Represent the local community and contribute to discussions on finance, risk, safeguarding, teaching and learning, and other services beyond the classroom.
What we are looking for
* Committed and enthusiastic members of the local community (Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes) with a passion for education and opportunities for young people.
* Experience or lived background in Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and/or Safeguarding is welcomed; governance experience is not a prerequisite.
* Confidence to speak within a group, express opinions, and share expertise.
What you will be doing
EMAT seeks a committed trustee with experience in holding senior leaders to account and sharing professional expertise. The board seeks to strengthen its broad and deep skill base with colleagues who have specific interest or experience in Safeguarding, Health & Safety or Law.
Preference will be given to those with strong local links to Northamptonshire and/or Milton Keynes. Trustees should have capacity to attend at least 6 x 2-hour meetings in person at the central Grange Park office (hybrid attendance available where necessary). Additional capacity to engage with opportunities during the academic year is welcomed to build relationships with the trust, its academies, and staff and students.
