Tradewind Recruitment is working with a specialist secondary school in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, which is looking to appoint a skilled and resilient General Science Teacher for a long-term position starting September 2025. This full-time role is ideal for a teacher with experience supporting students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and a strong background in delivering Science across Key Stages 3 and 4.
About the School:
The school provides a supportive and inclusive environment for students with additional needs, including SEMH. With small class sizes (typically between 2 and 8 students), teachers can build strong relationships and personalise their approach to learning. The leadership team is dedicated to professional development and ensuring staff are well-supported in meeting the diverse needs of their students.
Due to recent staffing changes, the school is seeking a confident and adaptable Science Teacher who can maintain clear structure, high expectations, and foster a positive learning environment from day one.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will teach General Science across Key Stages 3 and 4, planning and delivering lessons that are practical, engaging, and accessible. You'll be expected to tailor your approach to meet individual learning needs and support students as they work toward GCSE Science outcomes. This role requires a calm and consistent presence, strong subject knowledge, and excellent classroom management skills.
Key Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
A minimum of one year's experience teaching Science in UK secondary schools
Confidence teaching Science across KS3 and KS4
Proven ability to manage classroom behaviour positively and effectively
Experience working with students with SEMH needs
Full-time availability from September 2025
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
Legal right to work in the UK
