Part Time Class Teacher Vacancy (Fixed Term until May 2027)

St Denys C of E Infant School is seeking to appoint a part time class teacher to cover maternity leave for approx 2 terms (August 2026 - May 2027)

Contract: Part time (0.4 Monday and Tuesday)
Fixed term contract: August 2026 - May 2027

JOB OVERVIEW

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Class Teacher to join St Denys C of E Infant School in Ibstock. We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and reflective practitioner who is committed to delivering high‑quality learning experiences for young children. This is a varied and rewarding role, and we are looking for an adaptable, creative, and child‑centred individual to become part of our supportive and welcoming team.

The successful candidate will be appointed to teach in either the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or Key Stage 1, depending on the needs of the school. This may include responsibility for a mixed Year 1/2 class. The post‑holder will be responsible for planning and delivering alongside their job-share partner, an engaging, inclusive, and well‑structured curriculum that enables all pupils to thrive. Working closely with colleagues across the year group and wider school, they will create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment, assess and monitor pupil progress effectively, and contribute positively to the wider life of the school in line with our vision, values, and policies.

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL :

7. Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have a strong understanding of effective teaching and learning, particularly within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and/or KS1.
8. Have strong knowledge of early literacy and numeracy development, with the ability to plan and deliver high‑quality, engaging learning experiences that meet the needs of all pupils.
9. Have experience of teaching in a EYFS/KS1 setting, with evidence of positively impacting pupil progress and well‑being.
10. Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a supportive and ambitious team.
11. Communicate effectively with children, parents and carers, and colleagues, building strong and positive relationships.
12. Be knowledgeable about key safeguarding and child protection procedures and committed to maintaining a safe learning environment.
13. Be willing to contribute positively to the life and ethos of our welcoming Church School community.
14. Have the ability to use relevant classroom technology and resources confidently to enhance learning.
15. Bring a positive, solutions‑focused attitude and a reflective approach to continuous professional development.
16. Demonstrate a genuine commitment to the happiness, well‑being, self‑esteem, and academic progress of every child.
