Overall Purpose of the Job
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive technician to join our dynamic Faculty Technical Operations team, which strives to provide a sector leading technical support for our students and staff. You will be working within the Physical and Elemental Characterisation Platform and the primary purpose of this role is:
* To facilitate the research and teaching processes at the Department of Materials.
* To provide an agile technical support services to students, academics, and research staff.
* To provide technical support with responsibility for leading the highly specialised equipment, included in the Polymer, Thermal Analysis and Teaching laboratories.
* Provide technical support to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching laboratories as well as research and commercial activities.
* Occasional (when other members of technical staff unavailable) assistance to the academic members of staff in the organisation and daily running of specific laboratory classes and practical courses in Material Science.
We are seeking a technician with a flexible approach to working within an agile organisation therefore the post holder will also be expected to support the wider technical team working across a variety of techniques and physical locations should the need arise
