Your main role will be to develop and progress the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a pivotal role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will be highly valuable and contribute significantly to the successful implementation of the reform.
You will:
* Coordinate and collate input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
* Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
* Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, ensuring it meets business needs.
* Provide technical insight/feedback into Defra Policy discussions to ensure the regulatory requirements of the Hazardous Waste Regime are integrated into the Waste Tracking Service.
* Engage with devolved nations regarding Waste Tracking Service requirements.
Additionally, you will:
* Provide leadership on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and links to waste tracking.
* Support wider regulatory reform related to the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
* Contribute to the wider Hazardous Waste team, supporting and enhancing team efforts.
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing group within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead hazardous waste management efforts, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste handling.
