The role
As a Planning Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of one of the UK’s most critical defence programmes, supporting the Royal Navy’s continuous at-sea deterrent. You’ll work on cutting-edge technology that safeguards national security, while developing your career in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll support the Ministry of Defence by identifying and scheduling submarine maintenance activities and resolving planning issues.
1. Identify and define maintenance data and work required for future submarine maintenance periods
2. Resolve planning and scheduling ambiguities to ensure project clarity
3. Liaise regularly with internal and external stakeholders to maintain accuracy and quality
4. Build and maintain the indicative planning schedule (key date schedule)
5. Support the MoD’s In-Service Submarines (ISM) Project team
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Planning Engineer
6. Proven experience in a planning or engineering environment
7. Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
8. Experience building and maintaining schedules
9. A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and grow
10. Proficiency in MS Office or Primavera P6
Qualifications for the Planning Engineer
11. An engineering qualification (e.g. NC/HNC/HND) or demonstrable relevant experience
12. A planning qualification or equivalent industry experience
