Offshore Drilling Materials Controller

OBM is recruiting experienced Offshore Drilling Materials Controllers on behalf of our Oil & Gas Operator client to support an upcoming drilling campaign commencing in Q1 2026.
In this role, you will coordinate offshore operations to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective material handling and personnel movements. Candidates must have strong experience in drilling logistics; knowledge of Kabal and previous experience on Heavy Duty Jack Ups (HDJU) are advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and control all material and personnel movements to and from the offshore installation.
* Act as focal point for offshore materials, marine, and aviation activities, supporting MARCO, WSL, and onboard subcontractor representatives.
* Maintain clear, timely communication with stakeholders regarding daily operations, changes, emergent requirements, and weather impacts.
* Manage receipt, handling, storage, maintenance, and backload of client and contractor materials offshore.
* Apply and reinforce OGUK Best Practice guidelines for cargo packing and handling; report discrepancies or non-conformances.
* Coordinate logistics and materials activities in support of drilling operations in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
* Maintain accurate inventory records using Kabal, including cost tracking for all material movements.
* Create and distribute accurate inbound air and sea manifests in Kabal, including documentation for equipment, waste, or hazardous materials (SEPA, IATA, IMDG).
* Prepare and distribute daily operations, logistics, and personnel lookaheads as required by the Drilling team.
* Implement effective deck management strategies to optimise deck space and CCU utilisation.
* Monitor rental equipment and CCU certification; remove or replace items approaching certification expiry.
* Identify abnormal or out-of-gauge lifts requiring additional planning.
* Provide timely notification of planned tubular movements to determine if vessel TRS systems are required pre-sailing.
* Support the onshore logistics coordinator in creating and reviewing 48-hour and 24-hour load lists.
* Liaise with marine teams and onshore logistics to confirm supply vessel bulk tank availability for planned products.
* Ensure backloaded bulk waste (slops) is treated with biocide and H₂S scavenger; complete accurate analysis reports and required documentation for the vessel and onshore waste agents.
* Proactively identify requirements for additional marine and aviation support to ensure optimal utilisation of resources fleet-wide.
Person Specification
* Relevant drilling materials and logistics experience, ideally with HDJU / MODU background.
* Strong operational coordination skills with multiple interface management.
* Knowledge of shore base, aviation, marine operations, and vessel movement planning.
* Competent in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and particularly Kabal.
* Confident communicator capable of liaising at all organisational levels.
* Ability to work calmly under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Commitment to championing and reinforcing the client's safety culture.
* Valid offshore certification: MIST, BOSIET, OGUK Medical (minimum).
* Valid IATA and IMDG Dangerous Goods certification.
