Job Description
With the climate and biodiversity crisis, weather extremes, and challenges to water quality and supply, the Environment Agency’s (EA) work is more critical than ever. This is a pivotal time to be a Deputy Director within our Flood Risk Directorate (FCRM).
We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic leader to head our Digital, Data and Evidence (DDE) team, delivering essential services including:
* Digital services to help the public understand flood risk
* Digital services supporting EA's asset management
* Flood risk modelling and hydrology services to enable better understanding, management, and response
* Data management and improvements for FCRM
You will define service design and delivery strategies aligned with EA and Defra standards, influence organizational standards, and lead strategic change initiatives. You will represent FCRM on EA's Transformation Delivery group, shaping transformation efforts.
As DDE is a newly formed team, you will embed recent changes, set the vision, develop service plans, establish team identity, and build a high-performing team.
Responding to flood or environmental incidents is a core function. You will have an incident role, with training provided, and flexible working arrangements to support this responsibility.
The team comprises 120 multidisciplinary specialists across England, with eight direct reports (seven managers and one PA). You will report to the Director of Innovation, Systems and Services (ISS).

Additional Information
Location flexibility with home working; some travel required mainly to London, Birmingham, Bristol, and other EA offices. Travel is planned in advance with overnight stays as needed.
