HV Engineer - SAP Level 66kV - East Scotland
Support a large‑scale windfarm project during initial construction and commissioning. Apply expertise in Project Management, Electrical Engineering and HV Safety to operate and maintain critical HV infrastructure, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of HV assets. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a flagship UK windfarm project to the standards of an industry leading developer.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
* Support and contribute to the team’s culture of excellence.
* Operate high‑voltage (HV) and low‑voltage (LV) equipment.
* Act as an ambassador of the Global Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules.
* Manage HV interface between client and transmission operator site engineers and control room.
* Contribute to authoring key HV project documents (commissioning switching programme).
* Mentor OEG operational team members.
* Author Standard Operating Procedures.
* Lead daily communication, planning and coordination with the project site engineers and control point.
* Adapt to changing operational needs and provide continuous support for project construction and energisation activities.
* Participate in 24/7 emergency response and shift rota.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
* Ensure the health and safety of all staff under direct control or supervision.
* Ensure all activities are carried out safely in line with current risk assessments and good working practices.
* Report accidents/incidents in a timely manner.
* Comply with OEG Group Health and Safety Policy.
Quality Responsibilities
* Maintain understanding of ISO 9001 management system as relevant to the role.
* Comply with OEG Group Quality Policy and support the achievement of OEG’s targets and objectives.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate is an experienced HV Operations Specialist with a proven track record operating in offshore and onshore environments. They should demonstrate:
* Strong commitment to safe working practices.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Advanced proficiency in Office 365.
* Portfolio of experience in onshore and offshore HV equipment and substation environments.
* Experience operating switchgear (up to 400 kV) with OEM HV infrastructure.
* Highly desirable electrical apprenticeship or equivalent.
* Current authorisation under Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules.
* Knowledge of setting people to work.
* Competence in managing Safe System of Work and following Electrical and Mechanical Safety Rules procedures.
* Competence in formal review of RAMS to maintain Safe System of Work.
* GWO O&G Offshore Medical and survival certificates (essential).
* Confidence and experience in remote working and travel.
* Fluency in spoken and written English.
Qualifications
* Qualifications in electrical or mechanical technology with a strong foundation in practical and theoretical aspects.
* Qualified SAP 66kV.
This position is offered on a contract basis.
