The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a growing technology‑led organisation based in Knaresborough who are looking to appoint a Lead DevOps Engineer. This is a key hire where you’ll take ownership of DevOps practices, lead technical decision‑making, and play a hands‑on role in evolving a modern cloud platform.
The role offers a strong balance of leadership and engineering, with genuine influence over tooling, architecture, and best practices.
The Role
As Lead DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for the reliability, scalability, and automation of the company’s AWS infrastructure. You’ll work closely with engineering teams while providing technical leadership and mentoring across DevOps.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the design and delivery of cloud infrastructure on AWS
* Owning and developing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
* Managing and optimising Kubernetes environments
* Building and improving CI/CD pipelines
* Acting as a technical leader and escalation point for DevOps‑related issues
* Driving DevOps best practices across security, scalability, and reliability
* Collaborating with developers to support efficient software delivery
* Supporting incident management and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Experience
* Proven experience in a Senior or Lead DevOps Engineer role
* Strong hands‑on expertise with AWS
* Solid experience using Terraform in production environments
* Strong background in CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance
* Experience leading, mentoring, or influencing other engineers
* Comfortable working in a hybrid, collaborative environment
* Experience with GitOps or modern deployment strategies
* Exposure to monitoring and observability tooling
* Background supporting scalable or business‑critical platforms
