Junior Operations Manager Salary: Up to £32,000 Benefits Location: Belfast Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Work Pattern: 5 days from 7 (including Sundays), on a rotating shift pattern of 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm. VANRATH is delighted to be partnering with a leading distribution business to recruit a Junior Operations Manager for its warehouse operation. This is a fantastic permanent opportunity for an ambitious individual ready to take the next step into a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Reporting into the Operations Manager, you will help lead, motivate and develop the warehouse team to consistently hit operational targets and standards. The Role As Junior Operations Manager, your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to): Supporting the Operations Manager in running the day-to-day warehouse operation, and deputising in their absence to keep workflow on track. Taking ownership of a warehouse team and driving them to achieve daily output and productivity targets. Coaching, mentoring and supporting team members, while monitoring individual and team performance. Ensuring operational procedures and warehouse documentation are followed correctly and kept up to date. Carrying out routine safety inspections and escalating any hazards without delay. Championing a strong health and safety culture and upholding company standards at all times. Planning and coordinating daily activity across picking, packing, loading, goods-in and wider operational support. Communicating clearly across the operation and helping to build an engaged, motivated team. Keeping accurate records and ensuring operational standards are consistently met. Delivering against all warehouse KPIs. Bringing a continuous improvement mindset - spotting inefficiencies and helping to drive positive change. The Ideal Person Previous experience at supervisory or team-lead level within a warehouse or operations setting. A proven ability to maximise team productivity and hit targets. Strong organisational and administration skills, with the ability to problem-solve in a fast-moving environment. A confident communicator with a genuine appetite to grow as a leader. Customer-focused, driven and comfortable working to tight deadlines. Computer literate, including Excel, Outlook and warehouse management systems (WMS). Highly organised, with the ability to manage shifting priorities. Flexible in approach - able to adapt to changing schedules and hours where required. Process-driven, with a sharp eye for identifying performance trends and improvement opportunities.
