Assistant Solicitor - Commercial
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work as part of a team to provide commercial legal advice and assistance across all aspects of the Councils business. The post will be based in Fairfield House, Dalkeith although hybrid working will be available.
Key Responsibilities
Providing commercial legal advice and assistance across all aspects of the Councils business, including awareness of initiatives affecting council services and the pressures influencing clients before giving legal advice.
Qualifications
* A Law degree
* Postgraduate Diploma
* Practicing certificate from the Law Society
* Organisational knowledge, interpersonal skills, and understanding of public sector legal issues
* Graduates in Scots law with a diploma in legal practice (preferably including public administration) are considered
* Trainee solicitors will undergo a full range of CPD, training and study (PEAT 2) prior to developing their career, with recompensation at Grade 4 (£29,586.06 to £30,713.14) during the traineeship and move to Grade 7 on qualification
Location and Working Pattern
Hybrid/Midlothian House, Monday - Friday, 36 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
Contract Details
Permanent. Minimum actual salary £39,128.74 per annum (based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year).

Requirements
Compliance with the mandatory Cabinet Office PSN (Public Sector Network) Code of Connection. All employees who can access official information must complete a disclosure check.
