Supporting Independent Visitors Independent Visitors are volunteers who support and befriend young people who are under the care of the Local Authority. An Independent Visitor is a person who brings some consistency and stability to a young person's life when so many things and people are fluid and changing. The Advocacy People are responsible for this service in Southampton. The Advocacy People are an independent, Human Rights based charity and one of the UK’s largest providers of advocacy, advocacy-related and Healthwatch services who make sure people are heard when it matters most. About the role We are looking to recruit a permanent Local Manager for the Independent Visitor service to join our Southampton Team, working 30 hours per week with a starting salary of £27,993 per annum, pro rata. In this role, you will have day to day responsibility for the Independent Visitor Service and the Independent Visitor volunteers across the team. This will include recruiting and training Independent Visitor volunteers to feel confident in their roles and matching young people with the right volunteer for them. You will also support volunteers and promote the Independent Volunteer service, whilst ensuring that the people the volunteers work with are safeguarded at all times. What we need from you You may or may not have direct experience of this in your own life, or in another role, or have relevant qualifications but this isn’t a problem as we can offer training. We’re looking for people who are creative, flexible and organised, able to communicate clearly and positively with people at all levels and manage important administrative tasks. As this role is home-based with frequent travel across Southampton and surrounding areas, we need you to be based ideally in or around the Southampton area. You must have access to both a stable home broadband service and good mobile signal, a full driving licence and your own transport as well as flexibility with working hours.
