We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse AMU / SSU who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
We are seeking dynamic and motivated registered nurses to work within the area of Acute Medicine.
The Acute Medical Services at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust (Lister Hospital) provide a vibrant, exciting and professional environment.
AMU is an emergency medical admissions unit providing assessment of patients requiring immediate investigations, stabilisation and treatment. AMU is made up of 4 zones and comprises of a total of 62 bed bases.
There is a Practice Educators that work within the units to provide supervised practice, additional skills training and support. We have advanced developmental passports which are competency based to support your learning for both AMU and HMU. We are happy to recruit newly qualified nurses, as well as experienced nurses.
The post-holder is responsible for undertaking and recording a comprehensive nursing assessment and planning, delivering and evaluating high standards of evidenced based nursing care to a diverse group of patients.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will actively participate as a member of a team to move the team towards the completion of tasks, goals, and objectives.
They will demonstrate leadership by influencing others to be the best they can be and inspire our colleagues and patients;
The post holder will also deliver information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner to effectively engage others and achieve desired results.
You will be expected to teach and supervise junior staff, students and the non-registered nursing workforce.
We have a robust in-house package of support and education to ensure continual upskilling regardless of your previous experience. You will be encouraged to become multi-skilled and work within the various specialities including advanced clinical roles, leadership, and education.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
* RGN and/or ODP
* Registration with NMC / HPC
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Evidence of mentorship & preceptorship training
* Completion of relevant critical care modules at level 2
* Advanced Life support certificate
Previous Experience
Desirable criteria
* Relevant experience in either an inpatient or day surgery theatre or other relevant clinical area
* Peri-operative practice…….multi skilled in anaesthetics, recovery and scrub
* Experience of providing clinical support outside of the theatre area
* Participation in formulation or procedures to ensure best practice
Skills
Essential criteria
* Demonstrates clear communication
* Can organise and prioritise
* Adaptable and flexible approach to work
* Places value on the patient experience
* Can delegate work when appropriate
Desirable criteria
* Can perform in the role of either/and/or anaesthetic assistant, scrub and circulating assistant, recovery person or has relevant experience within a critical / acute care setting.
* Can perform within a surgical speciality or has relevant experience within a surgical speciality
* Can effectively and efficiently run a theatre list
* Can participate in the audit process
