HR Advisor
Location: Site-based
Hours: 37.5 hours, full-time
About the Role
We’re looking for a confident, pragmatic HR Advisor to join a manufacturing and engineering business in a standalone HR role. This is a hands-on position where you’ll take full ownership of HR across the business, working closely with senior leadership and acting as a trusted people advisor.
You’ll be comfortable operating independently, able to challenge constructively, and confident managing complex employee relations - while remaining friendly, approachable, and professional.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the main HR point of contact for employees and managers
Provide clear, legally sound advice on disciplinaries, grievances, absence, performance, and capability
Lead ER cases end-to-end, including investigations and hearings
Manage long-term absence and return-to-work processes
Own the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, probation, performance reviews, and leavers
Develop and maintain HR policies in line with UK employment law
Maintain accurate HR records and ensure GDPR compliance
Support both shop-floor and office-based teams in a manufacturing environment
Advise on shift patterns, overtime, flexible working, and workforce planning
Support health & safety initiatives and HR compliance
Partner with senior leadership on people strategy, change, and continuous improvement
About You
Proven experience as a standalone HR Advisor or HR Generalist
Background in manufacturing, engineering, or an industrial environment
Strong knowledge of UK employment law
Confident handling complex employee relations independently
Comfortable reporting into senior leadership and challenging when needed
Professional, resilient, and commercially minded
Desirable:
CIPD Level 5
Experience supporting a blue-collar / shop-floor workforce
Experience in a growing or evolving business
