This role involves overseeing the operational delivery of multiple projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Benefits: Private Medical Company pension scheme Company sick pay policy Wellbeing programme The Role: As the operational lead, you will oversee the delivery of projects within company policies, procedures and agreed project targets for time, quality and cost. You will manage Project Managers and Site Managers while driving a culture of safety, performance and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day operational delivery of projects within your region, including safety, quality, streetworks, supplier performance and continuous improvement. Drive a Safety First and Right First Time culture across all field operations through structured plans and supplier engagement. Lead and manage ongoing civils and cabling contracts. Ensure all accidents, incidents, near misses, quality issues and performance failures are investigated thoroughly and corrective actions implemented. Work closely with commercial teams to identify early risks to budgets, supplier costs or overheads. Manage operational relationships with suppliers, ensuring compliance with company standards. Set clear performance objectives for direct reports and conduct regular 1:1 meetings to support engagement and performance. Oversee budgetary and cost control for all projects. Manage staff, allocate work schedules and assign duties effectively. Ensure service delivery meets all contractual KPIs and SLAs. Conduct performance reviews and report outcomes to the Regional Director. Carry out regular audits to ensure quality, safety and workmanship standards are being met. Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, clients and key stakeholders. Provide accurate and timely operational reports to the Regional Operations Manager. Key Performance Indicator: Successful delivery of the project portfolio within agreed timeframes, budgets and in full compliance with company policies and procedures. Essential Skills & Qualifications: Minimum 10 years experience in the utilities industry, ideally electrical distribution or similar. Proven experience managing teams, including contractor partners. Civils project experience, both in the field and back-office functions. Strong stakeholder management and engagement capability. Strong commercial awareness and financial understanding. Ability to understand, manage and deliver contractual KPIs. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage field teams. Ability to contribute technical knowledge to proposals and reports. Excellent literacy, numerical and IT skills, including Microsoft Office. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Innovative, proactive and solution-focused mindset. Flexibility to meet business requirements. Professional representation of the company at all times. Commercially focused and aware.
