Senior Healthcare Support Worker - ED

An exciting opportunity has arisen for committed, enthusiastic and highly motivated healthcare assistants to join our Emergency Department at Colchester Hospital.
There is the option for a fixed term position until 9th August 2026.
Healthcare assistants are a key part of our team and support the Registered Nurses in providing high quality care to our patients.

Our Healthcare Assistant's work a rota pattern, so you MUST be able to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights and weekends including Bank Holidays for example Christmas Day. We are unable to offer set shifts patterns.
Main duties of the job
* To meet the direct and indirect care needs of patients under the delegation and supervision of a Registered Nurse.
* To ensure high standards of patient care at all times, in line with Trust policies and guidelines.
* To work as an effective member of the nursing and wider multi-professional healthcare team.
* To work within the boundaries of the role of the HCA and refer to the Registered Nurse as appropriate.

Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working with patients within the clinical setting
* ED experience
Qualifications
* Care certificate or equivalent
* Evidence of functional skills
Knowledge
* oAwareness of the nature of the carers role in assisting patients to fulfil basic human needs
* oUnderstanding of health and safety issues, including safe manual handling.
