Job description
The Associate Lecturer role suits the needs of candidates who wish to teach alongside other work commitments or transition into a full‑time Further Education teaching position. If you are considering entering the teaching profession within your industry‑specific subject specialism, this role may provide an appropriate initial pathway.
As a Welder, the role may involve a wide range of skills. These could include demonstrating a weld procedure to an apprentice, explaining weld diagrams to a customer, and applying fundamental teaching approaches to convey technical knowledge.
Current team members include Associate Lecturers who teach on varying bases, ranging from industry‑side commitments to ownership of their own businesses and providing support for early retirement teachers.
Responsibilities
• Teach welding and related technical subjects to students, delivering clear, student‑centred learning.
• Develop effective working relationships with students and staff.
• Contribute to the success of learners and uphold the integrity of assessment processes in a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a Level 3 or equivalent qualification in welding, with experience of working in a welding business environment. You will have good interpersonal skills and a keen interest in student‑centred learning.
