Quality Manager
£45,000, Yate BS37 and BS4 (dual site), 33 days holiday (incl bank hols), 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday 8.30 - 4.30pm, pension 4 %, Life assurance, employee well-being package and free parking,
We are seeking a skilled and motivated quality professional with aerospace and or defence sector knowledge and experience for a newly created position. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of parts and materials supplied by external vendors, driving continuous improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role is critical to maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, delivery and cost (SQDC) within our supply chain.
Quality managers role and responsibilities
Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards
Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective actions for non-conformances
Liaise and advise colleagues to establish and maintain quality control processes
Review and approve supplier quality plans, inspection procedures, and test methods
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to supplier quality activities
Provide technical support and guidance to suppliers on quality-related matters
Work closely with internal teams to resolve quality issues
Facilitate communication and collaboration between internal and external stakeholders
Quality manager skills and qualifications required for the role
Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality engineering or quality management or a simialar role
Strong knowledge of quality management systems and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, 14001, AS9100 and AS9120)
Qualifications and training in Quality and technical or engineering related subject matter
Experience in conducting supplier and internal audits and assessments
Leading and supporting internal audits identifying non-conformances and guiding operational teams on compliance best practices
The ability to set up and maintain quality systems from scratch
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis
Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC would be and advantage but not essential
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Proficient in MS office, excel and ERP type systems
Drivers License required for supplier visits and working between 2 local sites locally
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards specific to the defence sector
Driving licence and own transport required
