We are seeking a talented professional to be part of our dynamic EMEA Flow Volatility Pricing Risk and Systematic Trading Team. In this role, you will play a key part in the rollout of a cutting‑edge algorithmic trading platform for equity derivatives, leveraging a combination of internal solutions and external vendor applications. Purpose of the Role
To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.
Key Skills Required
* Advanced experience in Core Java – hands‑on expertise in multithreaded programming and zero garbage collection (GC) principles.
* Proven track record in building distributed systems, specifically for trading or risk management applications.
* Deep understanding of equity derivatives products and order/execution management workflows.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
* Experience in C++ for high‑performance trading systems – demonstrated ability to leverage C++ for building robust, low‑latency trading platforms.
* Versatility in programming languages – proven capability to work effectively with any programming language, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies as required.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record of collaborating across regions and functions (e.g., front office, compliance, risk, operations) to align on goals, manage competing priorities, and deliver successful outcomes.
Accountabilities
* Development and delivery of high‑quality software solutions using industry‑aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimised for performance.
* Cross‑functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
* Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
* Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organisation’s technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
* Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
* Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
* Lead strategic initiatives, drive requirements and make recommendations for change. Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage and maintain policies/processes; deliver continuous improvements and address policy breaches.
* Guide technical direction as a subject‑matter expert, lead collaborative, multi‑year assignments, and provide coaching to less experienced specialists.
* Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management, on functional and cross‑functional areas of impact and alignment.
* Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
* Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of organisational functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
* Collaborate with other areas of work to keep up to speed with business activity and business strategies.
* Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, comparing and selecting complex alternatives, and adopt outcomes of extensive research in problem‑solving processes.
