About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organised and detail oriented Finance Assistant to join our busy finance team. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build or further develop their career in a legal setting, supporting the day to day running of our client and office accounts in a fast paced professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Processing financial transactions in line with regulatory requirements, including both client and office accounts
* Carrying out daily bank reconciliations and monitoring account balances
* Managing incoming and outgoing payments including CHAPS, BACS, and cheques
* Monitoring and maintaining client ledgers to ensure accuracy and compliance
* Ensuring full compliance, internal financial controls, and industry regulations
* Assisting with purchase ledger and sales ledger processing
* Supporting month end and year end financial reporting activities
* Handling petty cash and expense claims efficiently
* Liaising with fee earners, external stakeholders, and suppliers to resolve financial queries
* Assisting with the organisation and retrieval of archived files
* Ensuring compliance with data protection and confidentiality policies
* Supporting general office administration including filing, scanning, and document management
* Maintaining accurate records and ensuring proper archiving of financial and legal documents
About You:
* Previous experience in a finance or accounts role (experience in a law firm is desirable but not essential)
* Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and finance software
* A proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
* Excellent communication skills and a professional manner
* Commitment to always maintaining confidentiality and compliance
