About the Role

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary schools in the BH12 area. This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who presents with complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual EHCP targets
* Build a strong, trusting relationship to support emotional regulation and engagement
* Implement strategies to support ASD and SEMH needs, including sensory and behavioural approaches
* Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals to deliver a personalised learning experience
* Support the child’s academic, social, and emotional development
* Assist with behaviour management, using de-escalation techniques where required
* Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the pupil’s needs
* Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and reports

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

* Experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASD and SEMH
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
* Strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience
* The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
* A proactive and flexible attitude
* Knowledge of EHCP processes and targeted interventions (desirable)
* Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are advantageous but not essential
