Senior Finance Officer - Culcheth High School
The role
Due to the retirement of the current post holder, Culcheth High School is seeking to appoint an experienced Finance Officer to join our small but capable and supportive Finance Team. This role requires a flexible approach, excellent organisational skills, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
The successful candidate will report to the Finance Manager and assist in managing school funds efficiently and prudently through comprehensive and accurate financial administration. Responsibilities include transactional processing, reconciliations, and ensuring timely payments to suppliers.
The role encompasses a variety of financial and administrative tasks such as ordering, invoicing, deliveries, petty cash management, assisting with month and year-end processes, income collection and reconciliation, and maintaining journals.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy finance environment, possesses excellent interpersonal skills, is well-organized, and maintains accuracy under pressure. The role involves regular liaising with staff, parents, and suppliers, requiring excellent customer service skills, flexibility, and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
Essential skills include excellent verbal and numerical abilities, confidence with IT, and proficiency in Word and Excel. The position is 37 hours per week, with some flexibility regarding hours. It is term-time only, plus one additional week.
