**Head of Court of Protection – Merseyside Ref. 700
**Salary:** Negotiable based on experience, ranging from £48,000 - £65,000
Our Legal Services Client are currently seeking a head of court protection for their head offices in Birkenhead.
**Job Purpose:**
To lead the professional Court of Protection team (professional deputyship and trusteeship), ensuring delivery of high-quality service to clients. Responsible for legal training, supervision, operational performance, financial targets, business development, and case intake for the department. Contribute to the firm's overall success.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Performance Management**
- Ensure professional standards of work by the Court of Protection team through regular file reviews
- Provide case supervision, advice, and guidance to fee earners on technical/professional matters
- Devise and implement structured training programs to maintain team knowledge
- Create/maintain best practice templates, letters, and ensure implementation
- Conduct performance appraisals, set objectives/targets for the team
- Contribute to maintaining Lexcel accreditation
**Risk and Compliance**
- Manage High Risk Register for Court of Protection matters
- Supervise anti-money laundering, due diligence, and authorize high-risk matters
- Investigate allegations of professional negligence and report to MD
- Investigate and report potential data protection breaches
- Ensure Lexcel, case management system, and procedural compliance
- Assist Finance Manager with regulatory compliance for accounts/transactions
**Client Management**
- Devise and implement strategies for efficient case management, fee recovery, and client service
- Investigate client complaints, report to MD, and draft responses per procedures
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
**Skills and Qualifications:**
- Expertise in Court of Protection law and practice
- Excellent leadership, training, and supervisory skills
- Strong communication and client relationship management abilities
- Proficiency in using firm's systems, software, and operating independently
**Additional Information:**
This role requires producing own work with minimal administrative support. Proficiency in using computer systems and software is essential. Regular reporting to the Managing Director.
