We are are looking for a compassionate and motivated Band 3 Healthcare Assistant to join Ophthalmology OPD, a busy and dynamic outpatient department caring for patients with a wide range of complex Ophthalmic conditions. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work in a fast-paced environment while supporting patients through their appt.
Ophthalmology OPD manages patients for a range of ophthalmic conditions requiring investigations before their appt, requiring strong teamwork, excellent clinical support skills and the ability to remain calm and organized in a high-activity setting. As part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
Main duties of the job
The candidate will work under supervision of a registered nurse to patients attending ophthalmology. They will perform visual acuity testing, chaperoning doctors in numerous clinic including emergency, glaucoma and medical retina. Perform clinical skills including observations, Bm monitoring and ANTT for intravitreal injection clinic. They will assist the nurse and doctor in the injection clinic, undertake visual fields and OCT tests.

Qualifications
* Care Certificate
* Completion of a clinical skills competency- based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake.
* GCSE Maths & English or qualified to equivalent Functional skills level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake.
Experience
* At least 6 months of care experience working in a health or social care setting.
