1:1 Teaching Assistant
Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our York Schools. Full-time and part-time applicants are encouraged to apply, term time only. This position will pay £89.38–£110 per day.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient and reliable candidate who is confident supporting a child with special educational needs on a one-to-one basis. This role requires a strong passion for welfare, education and child development, as well as the ability to build positive and trusting relationships. Applicants with relevant experience such as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Support Worker, SEN Sport Coach or Healthcare Assistant are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications and Experience:
* A minimum of a Level 2 Certificate in Early Years Education or Childcare is an advantage, but not essential.
* Previous experience working with young children, particularly those with special educational needs, in an educational or childcare setting.
* Experience providing 1:1 support is highly desirable.
* Basic first aid certification is an advantage, but not mandatory.
Responsibilities within this role include:
* Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a named child, ensuring they can access the curriculum effectively.
* Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the child’s individual needs.
* Support the child’s academic, social and emotional development.
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored support strategies and learning plans.
* Assist with behaviour management strategies where required.
* Undertake break time and lunch time duties as directed, supporting the child during unstructured times.
* Maintain strong communication with colleagues and parents/carers to ensure consistent and effective support.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
