Job Title: Senior Manager: Full time permanent

Job Purpose
To manage a portfolio of clients and oversee the delivery of high-quality accounting, tax, and advisory services within a busy Chartered Accountancy practice. The Accounts Manager will supervise a team of qualified staff, review work, maintain strong client relationships, and support the Partners in developing the firm’s presence across Inverness and the wider Highlands.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
* Act as a primary point of contact for clients
* Review accounts, tax returns, and VAT returns prepared by colleagues
* Ensure work is completed within deadlines and budgets
* Identify opportunities for additional services
Accounts & Tax
* Review and finalise statutory accounts in compliance with UK GAAP and Companies House requirements
* Review corporation tax computations and self‑assessment returns
* Oversee VAT compliance including MTD requirements
* Provide proactive tax and business planning advice
* Supervise, mentor, and support junior and experienced qualified staff
* Review working papers and provide constructive feedback
* Assist with staff training and development
* Assist with the management of workflow within the team
* Provide business advisory support including management accounts, forecasting, and cashflow planning
* Attend client meetings in support of the partners and independently as required
Person Specification
* Significant experience within a UK accountancy practice
* Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and review
* Experience reviewing corporation tax and personal tax returns
* Experience managing a client portfolio
* Strong leadership and supervisory skills
* Proficient in cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Experience in business advisory and tax planning
