An exciting opportunity for an actor and workshop facilitator with extensive experiencein multi-sensory theatre and co-creative approaches with SEND children and young people to work with a multi-disciplinary team on a newly funded project: Flights and Freedom.
Led by Pasha Kincaid and Nikki Charlesworth,Flights and Freedomis inspired by the children’s book:Kofi and the Butterflies. It is a multi-sensory, immersive project that gives Learning Disabled children and young people the opportunity to take an active part in a breadth of creative activities led by artists. The project will explore intersectional themes around disability, race, belonging and sustainability. The workshops will enable SEND school children to co-create a tourable art installation that provides an inclusive legacy.
The workshops will take place in the East Midlands, at Ashmount School in Loughborough, in diverse spaces including classrooms, hydrotherapy pools, sensory rooms, and forests in the garden.
Content from the workshops will inform an interactive and multi-sensory art installation which you will perform in, the role created and influenced by the children and young people’s responses to the story. This might involve innovative costume design and use of puppetry, so confidence in these areas is an asset.
The installation will then have a week-long residency in an East Midlands-based venue (dates to be confirmed).

We welcome applications from any D/deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent artists, and will work with you to provide access requirements and submit for AccesstoWork funding, if needed.
