A Specialist school for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and SEND needs is looking for experienced Behaviour Teaching Assistants to join their team on a long-term basis.
The Role
The school seeks a highly skilled SEND TA with experience working with highly complex ASD/SEMH pupils. Your responsibilities will include supporting pupils in developing their daily living skills, academic abilities, and social-emotional needs, preparing them for secondary education. You will follow a timetable to deliver interventions and cover classes across the school. Additionally, you will support teachers by taking responsibility for specific learning activities both in and out of the classroom, under supervision, to help achieve learning outcomes.
Applicants should have previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH or complex emotional and behavioral needs. Experience with students with Autism and non-verbal students is preferred. Restraint training such as PRICE or de-escalation techniques is desirable; PRICE training will be provided.
The School
This small, independent school specializes in educating children and young people with SEMH. The dedicated staff provide a nurturing and adaptable learning environment tailored to each student's needs. The school promotes stability, emotional balance, and well-being, supporting students to develop self-esteem and a positive attitude towards lifelong learning. The team includes therapists and outreach workers providing comprehensive support.
The school is located in Wembley and is part of a larger charity focused on improving children's mental health and well-being. Leadership maintains high standards for staff, offering opportunities for professional development and career growth.
If you have experience supporting young people with SEMH and behavioral challenges and wish to work in a supportive, progressive school, please apply immediately with an up-to-date CV outlining your relevant experience.
