Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated part time driver / administrator to join the Community Dental Service. The Community Dental Service deliver services across Cardiff and Vale, including fixed clinics, domiciliary visits, mobile dental units and HMP. The service works closely with the Designed to Smile, Gwen am Byth Welsh Government programmes and Emergency Dental Service.
This post is 15 hours per week Thursday and Friday driving one of our new mobile dental units. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day smooth operation of the Mobile Dental Clinic(s), whilst maximising the patient throughput. The role will include supporting clinical staff in preforming their duties to the whole age spectrum, including children and adults with additional needs.
The role will include close communication and good organisation with other professionals working in schools, well-being hubs, homeless services etc. This will on times include liaising with companies in relation to the vehicle.
Main duties of the job
You should hold the correct driving licence to enable you to drive a max Tonne vehicle. In additional good communication and interpersonal skills along with an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service. We are looking for a dynamic individual who prides in delivering high quality care and shares the vision of this service.
You will work closely with the wider dental team including our Dental Nurse Manager and work in collaboration with Senior Dental Nurses including IPC, Health and Safety and Radiography, to ensure a high quality of care is provided across the service, to the most vulnerable patient groups including Physical disabilities, learning difficulties, mental health problems, medically compromised, psycho geriatric conditions, dental phobia's, Homeless and those with language, behavioural and social barriers.
The successful candidate will have the responsibility for the driving and coordination of the mobile dental unit complying with the Health Boards policies and procedures and ensuring compliance to ensure an effective and efficient service is provided.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

To be responsible for the day-to-day smooth operations of the Mobile Clinic(s). To support clinical staff in performing their duties to the whole age spectrum. Including Children and Adults with Special Needs, and the Elderly within the Community Dental Service.
Be able to Work independently and have individual responsibility to manage daily workload and use own initiative to deal with problems as and when they arise. The post-holder may be required to work in any Mobile or Fixed Dental Clinic operated by the UHB.
