Adult and Child Pre and Post Bereavement Support Counsellor
Fixed-term/secondment vacancy for 1 year until 1 December 2026. Part‑time posts available: 2 × 15‑hour posts and 1 × 7.5‑hour post. Secondment requires prior agreement from current manager.
Job Summary
This role delivers a high standard, cost‑effective pre and post bereavement counselling without direct supervision in community and hospital settings, based on evidence‑based practice and legal, statutory and Health Board policies.
Responsibilities
* Provide safe, individualised and effective service by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating clients' care.
* Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to developing and maintaining the service philosophy for adults and children.
* Maintain and develop high‑quality support and care for clients within the Hywel Dda University Health Board area.
* Manage a defined caseload without direct supervision, assessing, monitoring and coordinating individualised therapeutic programmes of care in partnership with clients.
* Acknowledge and promote best practice, while recognising and reporting unsafe practice.
* Provide accurate information tailored to clients' needs and understanding of the bereavement process.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Registered with BACP
* Relevant Diploma in Counselling
* Has or is working towards accreditation
* Evidence of relevant grief practice
* Working in adult and child grief/bereavement counselling
* Receiving clinical supervision
Desirable
* Related counselling qualifications
* Evidence of broad spectrum of relevant counselling experience
* Welsh speaker (Level 1)
Working Pattern & Salary
Band 5 – £31,516 to £38,364 a year pro rata. Fixed‑term contract for 1 year. Part‑time positions.

Eligibility
Welsh language desirable; non‑compliant applicants can receive support to meet minimal requirements. Disclosure and Barring Service check required. Skilled worker sponsorship available for overseas applicants. UK professional registration required.
