About the Role
You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering cutting‑edge assurance systems for AI‑driven and autonomous platforms, with an initial focus on UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems). You’ll define engineering strategy, oversee system architecture and software development, and ensure high‑quality delivery in line with strict industry and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in safety‑critical, regulated environments and thrives in a fast‑moving start‑up setting.
What You’ll Do
* Provide technical and strategic leadership across all engineering teams.
* Define and own the engineering roadmap, balancing innovation with compliance.
* Establish and manage engineering processes across systems engineering, software development, V&V, and safety assurance.
* Build and mentor a high‑performing engineering team.
* Oversee integration of R&D outputs into production‑ready systems.
* Lead technical risk management and quality assurance initiatives.
* Represent engineering in customer discussions, technical reviews, and stakeholder sessions.
* Collaborate closely with product, operations, and leadership to align execution with business goals.
* Manage technical documentation, certification, and regulatory submissions.
What You’ll Bring
* Strong background in aerospace or other regulated, safety‑critical sectors (defence, medical devices, oil & gas, automotive, etc.).
* Practical experience with recognised safety and compliance standards.
* Deep understanding of designing, building, and scaling reliable software and systems requiring assurance or certification.
* Experience leading and scaling technical teams.
* Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment where ownership, adaptability, and hands‑on leadership matter.
