Offer description

At Bitterne Manor Primary, our vision is clear: to nurture potential by building brave hearts, motivated minds, proud voices, and supportive connections – turning curiosity into lifelong discovery.

We are a thriving, one-form entry school on the banks of the River Itchen in the heart of Southampton. Rated 'good,' we are proud of our happy, popular community where high standards and aspirations go hand in hand with a nurturing, stimulating environment.

Our children speak proudly of being part of the 'Bitterne Family,' where kindness, inclusion, and respect are central to everything we do. Guided by our values, we celebrate each child's individuality and are committed to helping them flourish – both as learners and as young people with the confidence to embrace the future.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated teaching assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will:

* Be caring, patient and passionate about supporting children's learning and emotional well-being
* Have experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly in a 1:1 support role, or a strong willingness to learn
* Have strong communication and teamwork skills to work closely with class teachers, SENCo, and other staff.
* Have a flexible and proactive approach
* Have a basic understanding of child development and learning strategies, with a commitment to ongoing training and professional growth
* Ideally, be a Level 3 qualified Early Years Practitioner or Level 2 qualified Teaching Assistant

Their Key Responsibilities Will Include

* Helping children learn in class, in small groups, or one-on-one, as directed by the teacher or SENCo
* Building caring, respectful relationships with children to support their confidence and well-being
* Learning about each child's needs and giving them the right support
* Helping plan, prepare and deliver learning activities, especially for children with additional needs
* Providing one-to-one support for children with more complex needs

In Return, We Can Offer You

* Enthusiastic, well-mannered children who love to learn
* Exemplary behaviour, as recognised in our June 2024 Ofsted report
* A highly inclusive and diverse school community
* An outward-looking, child-centred leadership team, who are open to new ideas
* A passionate and supportive staff team with a strong sense of humour
* Strong parental engagement in children's learning
* Collaborative networking opportunities across the Reach Cooperative Trust
* A commitment to your ongoing professional development
