Purpose of the Role
* Operate the specific vehicles used for project work in your field of specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.), following safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
Training will be provided where required.
* Book on and off duty according to rosters and weekly orders.
* Report fit for duty physically, emotionally, and mentally.
* Wear personal protective clothing (P.P.C.) as supplied.
* Maintain clear communication with Rugby Control Room (Help Desk).
* Work to a safe and competent standard.
* Carry out emergency procedures when required.
* Perform other duties as directed by the Team Leader, Operations Managers, or Control Room Staff.
* Coordinate with Control Room / Operations Managers for worksite information, vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and drug screening requests.
* Complete all paperwork and administrative duties accurately and promptly.
* Maintain machines to the required standard, keeping them clean and tidy.
* When carrying out HGD, complete reports at shift end and submit all incident reports, including photos, to Rugby.
* Liaise with maintenance regarding machine servicing, repairs, faults, and spares.
* Ensure detailed fault reports are submitted from machine crew.
* Act as a liaison with on-site customers during HGD.
* Maintain knowledge of procedures regarding route learning and retention.
* Submit timely and detailed reports on all on-track incidents.

Person Specification
Driving
* Maintain and update knowledge of traction, routes, rules, regulations, and operating notices.
* Read and understand all notices affecting route knowledge.
* Operate machines safely without supervision, following rules and regulations.
* Adjust driving techniques based on weather and rail conditions.
* Observe signals and report irregularities immediately.
* Report line safety incidents promptly to Network Rail.
* Engage in personal route learning and refreshment.
* Ensure annual driving assessments and biennial rules and regulation certifications.
* Perform DOO duties when qualified.
* Conduct daily safety checks using appropriate checklists.
* Communicate with site customers and respond to faults and failures.
* Assist with machine repairs and liaise with maintenance when necessary.
* Perform scheduled maintenance and on-site repairs.
* Complete and submit all necessary paperwork to Rail Services.
Qualifications/Experience
* Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Good communication skills.
* Maintain a positive attitude and professional pride.
* Ability to work weekends, bank holidays, and shifts.
* Mechanically minded with NVQ level 3.
* Possess a clean road vehicle driving license.
