Please note – This is a permanent position initially to cover maternity leave in Shelf, with potential relocation to other schools in the West Yorkshire region after the maternity cover concludes.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads play a vital role in ensuring the needs of our children and young people are fully recognized and met.

You will join as part of the leadership team, reporting directly to the Head Teacher. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration across different locations within the group.

The Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead supports the DSL in safeguarding children, liaising with statutory and non-statutory agencies, parents, carers, and staff regarding wellbeing, child protection, and safeguarding issues, while supporting the wider school team.

Millcourt School is an independent specialist day school in Shelf, Yorkshire, catering to pupils with SEMH needs and related conditions. Our historic mill building has been transformed into a vibrant educational environment dedicated to understanding and supporting our students.

To be successful, you should have at least 2 years’ experience as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead in a school setting, with a comprehensive portfolio of CPD related to safeguarding and child protection. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT systems, excellent interpersonal skills, empathy, initiative, and a full UK driving license are essential.
