We’re looking for a Senior Auditor to join the Internal Audit team. Senior Internal Auditors undertake the planning and delivery of internal audit reviews of Wirral Council’s services, policies, and procedures. They challenge existing processes, identify inefficiency, waste, or fraud, and seek innovative ways to improve how the Council operates. Internal Audit plays a pivotal role in helping the organization manage risks and act as a catalyst for change.
About The Role
This role offers a great opportunity to develop your career in local government within a forward-thinking Internal Audit team. You will review and evaluate various organizational functions, including finance, social care, infrastructure projects, high-value contracts, and complex partnerships. The team also provides advice and consultancy to improve governance, risk management, and controls.
As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will manage your own portfolio of work, which may include fraud investigations. Our supportive environment will help you develop skills across all audit areas, working closely with experienced colleagues. Your work will provide assurance on risk management, governance, policies, and controls, and you will work with clients to implement improvements and innovations.
About The Candidate
Successful applicants will be passionate about improving the public sector. They will be team players, great communicators, and innovative thinkers. Experience in Internal Audit or finance is desirable but not essential, as transferable skills are valued. Candidates should be qualified or working towards a professional qualification such as CCAB or CIIA, or willing to study towards one.
