We are seeking an intellectually curious, analytically minded Science Teacher to join a pioneering University Technical College (UTC). In this role, you will challenge students to master the fundamental empirical laws governing biology, chemistry, and physics, directly linking classroom discovery to the region's advanced technological, engineering, and industrial landscapes.

The School

Operating as a specialized University Technical College (UTC), our institution delivers high-quality technical, scientific, and healthcare-linked education for students aged 14 to 19. Sponsored by leading regional universities and high-profile industrial employers, we offer a professional, workplace-simulated learning environment. Our students have actively chosen a specialized STEM pathway, resulting in a highly motivated student body where behavioural issues are virtually non-existent. This orderly, professional atmosphere allows our faculty to focus 100% of their energy on high-level subject delivery, safe laboratory inquiry, and academic mentoring.

The Department & Scientific Inquiry

* You will join a highly successful, collaborative Science faculty where empirical discovery, logical reasoning, and evidence-based thinking are celebrated.

* The department features contemporary, purpose-built laboratory suites designed to replicate industrial research facilities, fully equipped with modern data-logging technology and advanced analytical apparatus.

* A highly organized, expert technician team supports the faculty, ensuring all required practicals, technical projects, and complex demonstrations are set up flawlessly and safely.

* We maintain direct, weekly links with our corporate partners, providing unique opportunities to integrate live sector briefs, industrial case studies, and workplace applications into our daily lessons.

Core Responsibilities

1. High-Challenge STEM Instruction: Planning and delivering rigorous Science lessons across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and potentially Key Stage 5 (A-Level / Level 3 Technical pathways), ensuring top-tier academic progress.

2. Empirical Leadership: Leading safe, organized, and impactful laboratory practicals that train students in precise measurement, critical observation, and data deconstruction.

3. Conceptual Breakdown: Demystifying abstract, complex frameworks across biology, chemistry, and physics—making quantitative laws and structural formulas accessible to all learners.

4. Data-Driven Progression: Utilizing the department’s detailed assessment tracking systems to identify learning gaps early, providing clear, targeted feedback to maximize examination performance.

5. Academic Mentorship: Acting as a professional mentor and form tutor to a cohort of students, supporting their academic progress, professional standards, and higher-level career goals.

The Successful Candidate We are looking for a dedicated educator who is passionate about cultivating logical clarity, evidence-based thinking, and a genuine curiosity about the natural and physical world. Your profile should include:

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or a recognized post-16 teaching qualification, alongside a strong honours degree in a recognized scientific discipline (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Applied Sciences).

* Track Record of Examination Success: Proven experience or clear capacity to secure excellent progress outcomes in terminal science examinations, with a sophisticated understanding of exam board specifications.

* Professional Demeanour: The ability to command a mature classroom through exceptional subject expertise, fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect, high intellectual curiosity, and workplace readiness.

* Collaborative Spirit: A proactive practitioner eager to contribute to shared resource banks, co-plan cross-curricular projects, and participate in peer professional development alongside corporate mentors.
