Job Overview
Full‑time Monday‑Friday 8am‑4pm, on‑site only at Royal Preston Hospital. Provide administrative and clerical support to medical secretaries and support secretaries in the Renal Department. The department serves patients across Lancashire, South Cumbria, East Lancashire, Blackpool & Fylde and surrounding areas. We seek an enthusiastic, hardworking and adaptable individual with a commitment to improving patient experience.
Main duties of the job
Ideal candidates will have previous experience in hospital administration. Responsibilities include dealing with patient queries, post, filing, taking prescriptions to pharmacy, retrieving information, using electronic patient record systems, downloading clinical letters. Demonstrate a flexible approach to all working relationships. Customer service and communication skills are essential, as are organisational skills with attention to detail.
Knowledge and experience of office procedures are essential. You will receive full training and have opportunities to grow and develop new skills while demonstrating your initiative within a busy team.
Detailed responsibilities
* Point of contact for day‑to‑day enquiries, referring where necessary to more senior staff.
* Organise incoming and outgoing correspondence.
* Deal with routine telephone enquiries and refer appropriately.
* Coordinate and liaise with clinical colleagues and other staff.
* Download clinic letters or other correspondence produced by clinical colleagues.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
* RSA 1 or 2 or relevant experience
* EDCL or relevant experience
Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience of working with the public
* Aware of the concept and application of confidentiality
* Knowledge of Microsoft packages
* Previous experience in a health care or related setting
* Knowledge of medical terminology
