As a firefighter with NFRS, you will respond to a wide range of incidents, as well as taking part in community safety and fire protection activities, to help keep our residents and businesses safe in the diverse communities we serve.

* Be aged 18 or over by 17th May 2026
* Hold a full, valid UK manual driving licence
* Have the right to live and work in the UK without restrictions
* Be able to pass an enhanced DBS check (including barred lists)
* Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grades A–C (9–4), OR be a competent on-call firefighter.
* On-call firefighter - you must live or work within 8 minutes of your on-call station

Working Arrangements - Wholetime
Successful candidates must be flexible and willing to serve at any of our Wholetime Duty System (WDS) stations. NFRS operates two duty systems:
2-2-4 Shift Pattern:
Day Shift – 08:00 to 18:00
Night Shift – 18:00 to 08:00
Variable Crewing System:
Monday to Friday – 07:30 to 18:00
