Role Summary
Assist physiotherapists within the MSK Therapy Services, supporting both clinical and non‑clinical duties, including equipment maintenance, health and safety, administration and patient progression under therapist supervision.
Responsibilities
* Assist therapists with implementation and day‑to‑day operational needs of the MSK therapy service.
* Accept delegated tasks and perform them effectively in the clinical environment.
* Test and maintain therapy equipment, including hydrotherapy pool and electrotherapy machines.
* Assist with department health and safety maintenance.
* Perform administrative duties such as photocopying, filing and reception cover.
* Support patients’ progression through treatment plans under the protocols set by the supervising therapist.
* Implement delegated tasks that form part of a patient’s treatment programme, reporting to the supervising therapist before progression.
* Plan and prioritise own daily work programme and review caseload regularly.
* Respond to unforeseen clinical situations using initiative.
* Document interventions accurately and promptly, keeping overseeing therapists updated on patient progress.
* Provide cross‑team cover within competency limits.
* Supervise and progress exercise programmes, gait re‑education and aquatic therapy services.
* Assist a therapist when a patient requires more than one assistant.
* Monitor stock levels of linen, tape, paperwork and other items used regularly.
* Maintain cleaning standards of the department, gym and hydrotherapy area.
* Demonstrate mental and physical ability to remain concentrated, focused and to carry out therapy treatments.
* Adhere to trust policies and procedures and participate in supervision and appraisal as required.
Person Specification
* Experience of working with the general public.
* Experience working in an enabling or caring environment.
* Experience working in a healthcare setting.
Skills and Ability
* Good verbal and written communication skills, including computer literacy.
* Evidence of good time‑management.
* Personal integrity and reliability.
* Good organisational skills and ability to use initiative.
* Patient, supportive and empathetic attitude.
Training / Qualifications
* GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

£25,760 to £27,476 a year, pro rata.
