The RFL is the second largest provider of skin cancer services in London and the third largest in the UK. The service treats over 200 newly diagnosed melanomas, 300 SCCs and 900 BCCs annually and receives 20% of the Trust’s total 2ww referrals and 62% of the skin cancer referrals across NCL.. This role will support this pathway providing essential care and pathway support to cancer patients.


Main duties of the job

The Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist will be required:

· To assist in the provision of professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the care of the patient with cancer, acting as a resource to provide information and support to patients, carers and staff.

· To liaise effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team to achieve a seamless specialist service.

· To ensure that every patient has a plan of care and liaise with other teams to ensure that this is not compromised

· To lead and contribute to the creation of patient information

· To provide formal and informal training and education within specialist area

· To lead and contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and policies both internally and externally.

· To attend the Cancer CNS Community of Practice

· Support health and wellbeing events and initiatives to support patients to live with their disease

· To act as a core member of the multidisciplinary meetings, contributing to discussion and acting as a patient advocate

* Recognised teaching or mentorship qualification
